The Sustainable Development Goal 5 aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Key facts:

β€’ About 1 in 3 women experiences physical or sexual violence in their lifetime
β€’ Nearly 119 million girls are out of school worldwide
β€’ Women spend 3 times more time on unpaid domestic work

Gender equality is not only a matter of justice; it is a powerful driver of sustainable development, economic growth, and social cohesion.

Challenges, but above all opportunities:

Economic empowerment & women entrepreneurship
Many women remain excluded from economic and financial opportunities. The Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) and Youth Education initiatives create opportunities through cooperatives, microfinance, and support programs to promote women’s entrepreneurship.

Access to education & women’s leadership
Millions of girls still lack access to quality education. Investing in girls’ education and leadership programs is a key opportunity to shape a new generation of women leaders.

Inclusive employment & professional equality
Inequalities in the labor market limit women’s economic potential. Inclusive policies, training, and solidarity-based initiatives help ensure access to decent and fair employment.

Protection & women’s rights
Violence and discrimination remain major barriers to women’s empowerment. Awareness campaigns, support systems, and advocacy led by #SSE and youth organizations represent a strong opportunity for lasting impact.

Promoting gender equality means unlocking the potential of half of the world’s population and building more just, inclusive, and prosperous societies.
