Youth Cote d'Ivoire : volunteers visit and raise awareness to minor prisoners in Dabou prison

The end of a story announces the start of another with new goals and challenges. This time, more determined than ever the Youth volunteers set sail for DABOU on Saturday 11 August 2018 for their second activity at the juvenile prison (girls and boys).

The challenge of this adventure was more important than the previous one, because it was necessary to successfully share values with children in conflict with the law, to be embedded in their universe to identify their needs. Most of them are children who grew up in an environment where they were engaging in all kinds of practices, which explains why their stories differ from one child to another.

These 14 minor children detained in this correctional institution are there for various crimes (rape, theft, stabbing attacks, fights ...) the volunteers therefore opted for a conference on the change of mentality in order to bring them to become aware of the life they lead and to change their behavior once released from prison.

In addition, donations of food and cleaning products were made to these prisoners, such as: bags of rice, pasta, eggs, canned foods, oils, boxes of powdered soap, bleach, bags of clothing and shoes commonly called “lekè” at the request of the prisoners themselves.

Finally, we shared meal to end the ceremony on a high note. The party was beautiful and the results were satisfactory for all.
