INAUGURATION OF THE REHABILITATION OF EPP M'BATTRA 1

Saturday 20 January 2024, a date that is sure to live long in the minds of the people of M'Battra, a village in the sub-prefecture of Grand Morier.

The reason? For the first time in its 50-year history, the village's public primary school, M'Battra 1, was renovated by Youth Education.

The school, which was in a very advanced state of disrepair, with ceilings, roofs, paintwork, desks and the canteen all in a state of disrepair, has now been refurbished by the organisation's volunteers.

Before the inauguration ceremony, the village chief welcomed the members of the organisation to his home to thank and bless them for this gesture of great esteem, for this act of relief for the children of his village.

The delegation from Abidjan then travelled to the school for the inauguration ceremony. The ceremony was marked by a skilful blend of tradition and modernity.

It opened with the blessings of the chief of the land. After him, it was the turn of the village chief and the local spokesman to express their gratitude and appreciation to the organisation for this useful work.

The event was also attended by the administrative authorities, notably Mr Issouf Soumahoro, sub-prefect of Grand Morier. As well as expressing his thanks, Mr Soumahoro pointed to the problems plaguing schools in his constituency, namely teenage pregnancies, drug use and the lack of birth certificates for pupils up to CM2. In his view, this is partly due to parents abdicating their responsibility for their children's education. As a result, their offspring are left to fend for themselves, with no reference points and no interesting prospects.

Founder Franck Gozé explained the reasons that motivated the leaders to set up this social project. The aim of this rehabilitation is to enable pupils to learn in better conditions and have the same chances of success as other children around the world. He revealed that this action was made possible thanks to the combined efforts of all the volunteers. This shows how important the values of unity, solidarity and love still are in today's increasingly individualistic society.

Founder Franck Gozé was then baptised in the pure Abbey Nanan Eddy Eddy Alphonse tradition.

The inauguration ceremony was also enlivened by songs, recitations and dances performed by the students. They never stopped repeating: "Knowing how to say THANK YOU is a fraternal gesture".

The ceremony ended with a lunch offered to the volunteers by the spokesperson for the population at his home.

Youth, the giver of hope!
